Introduction
Content audits or content analyses provide insights into a brand’s marketing and social media strategy. It does so by looking at all content under a microscope to answer the basic questions, who, what, when, why, and how. The article “The Ultimate Guide to Content Analysis” explains, “Conducting a content analysis can help you understand the effectiveness of your content. This can include traffic numbers, the number of backlinks created, and where it ranks on search engines. You can also focus on your conversion rates. This conversion rate measures the number of website visitors that complete a desired goal. This can include making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or downloading a white paper or eBook.”
My Content Audit
I recently conducted a basic content audit for the nonprofit organization, Committee for Protecting Journalists. I looked at everything from platform presence to site accessibility. I utilized the Screaming Frog SEO program to help me conduct this content audit. More specifically I looked at platform presence, title elements, meta descriptions, header elements, alt tags and accessibility, content, writing, and architecture. I did so to get a basic understanding of how the organization functions online, and how successfully they do so.
